Scottish Refugee Council

Scottish Refugee Council is an independent charity dedicated to providing advice, information and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees living in Scotland. Artists in Exile

Artists in Exile is a production company aimed at creating a diversity of innovative artistic projects connected to themes of dislocation, migration flow and sharing space. The company was originally a membership organisation of professional artists from around the world and until 2004 it served as a link between non-refugee artists and artists who had been forced into exile. From these roots and still inspired by the same goals, Artists in Exile has evolved into a company that initiates and produces new arts projects for a variety of venues.

Princes Trust Scotland

A UK charity that helps young people overcome barriers and get their lives working. Communities First

Communities First is the Welsh Assembly Governments Flagship Programme to tackle deprivation in Wales. The programme exists to provide local people with opportunities to play an active role in shaping the future of their community. It is founded on the principle that poverty and disadvantage are created by a complex number of factors, such as poor educational achievement, poor housing and environments, substance misuse, local job markets, benefit systems, stigma and perceptions about people and places etc. If we want to address poverty and inequalities then we must understand what the causes are.

WCVA is the voice of the voluntary sector in Wales. They represent and campaign for voluntary organisations, volunteers and communities. Welsh Consortium for Refugees & Asylum Seekers

The WCRAS is one of eleven consortia established across the UK in 2001 to facilitate the effective dispersal of asylum seekers across the UK.

WCRAS is hosted by Newport City Council and plays a lead role working with its partners in the development of strategic policies and initiatives for asylum support and refugee integration across Wales. The Consortia are responsible for co-ordinating the provision of services by local authorities and other public services to asylum seekers and refugees. In addition Consortia operate as the prime vehicle for consultation, liaison and partnership working between the National Asylum Support Service (NASS) and other public, voluntary and private sector stakeholders in their respective regions (or Nations).

DPIA Displaced People in Action

DPIA involves asylum seekers and refugees in their new communities, in a voluntary capacity, giving them meaningful and interesting uses of their time. It assesses their existing skills and allows them to learn new ones, offering opportunities for training, activities, educational visits, and special projects, working in partnership with existing voluntary organisations. It achieves these goals by organising activities and projects on an on-going basis.

It is their intention to provide educational and positive activities for young people, single adults, families, and children. DPIA's projects compliment existing educational services by providing a forum in which both learning styles can prosper.


Welsh Refugee Council

The WRC has a vision to empower refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in Wales. Their grass roots work gives refugees help and support to create new lives in Wales.. The range of services includes advice and support, casework, plus advocacy and representation in areas such as welfare, benefits, housing and health. They are also involved with community development and capacity building for Refugee Community Organisations, youth work, volunteering and befriending, and adult guidance in education, training and employment.
