Comedy - Its No Laughing Matter

It’s No Laughing Matter, but it certainly is funny!

The Refugee Council celebrated Refugee Week by organising a comedy night, where comedians could ‘stand up’ for refugees rights.

The night was held at Leicester Squares Comedy Store and featured comedians such as Alistair Barrie, Mark Maier, Joe K, Shappi Khorsandi, Andrew Lawrence, Ian Stone and Paul Thorne.

As the purpose of the evening was to raise awareness of Refugee Week and also to fundraise for the work of the charity, the night also included a speech from a client of Refugee Council's day centre explaining the work of the charity as well as a raffle.

In total the evening raised a good amount of money towards the charities work and the evening was successful in reaching out to new audiences, as some of the 370 audience members had come to the event purely for the comedy, rather than for the cause.
