| EXHIBITION
Life After Iraq Commissioned by Scottish Refugee Council Friday 13 June – Sunday 26 October 2008, St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art, Glasgow  Much attention has been given to the conflict in Iraq, but much less to the resulting humanitarian crisis facing the Iraqi people. Since 2003 when war broke out, at least 4.7 million Iraqis have been forced to flee their homes. Around half of the displaced remain in Iraq, while more than 2 million have crossed borders into Syria and Jordan.
Commissioned by Scottish Refugee Council, Life After Iraq is an exhibition of work by award-winning photojournalist Angela Catlin and writer Billy Briggs, who travelled to Syria to document the lives of some of the millions of ordinary Iraqis living there after fleeing their homeland. The exhibition also gives an intimate insight into the lives of Iraqi refugees who have come to Scotland seeking safety.

Under the Same Sky Tuesday 17 & Wednesday 18 June 2008, Tron Theatre, Glasgow
YDance present this contemporary dance theatre piece, performed by young people from across Glasgow, which explores what it means to be a ‘new Glaswegian’ in 2008. Experiences from the dancers’ journeys to Scotland and their new lives in the city are combined with dreams for the future in a performance full of passion, life and energy.

The line-up includes everything from hip hop, reggae and ska to Scottish Ceilidh music, from Capoeira and Afrobeat to Balkan fusion and Indo-Caledonian pop. Writers with a Future In Partnership with Maryhill Integration Network Tuesday 17 June, Woodside Hall, Glasgow
A year ago, a writers group was established in Maryhill bringing together asylum seekers, refugees and local people to explore their experiences as long-standing and new communities in Glasgow. This event marks the launch of an exciting anthology of their work.
