2008 Media Campaign

The 2008 Media Campaign highlights positive “case studies” of refugees.

The central UK team have a small bank of interviews with individual refugees whose stories personify the key messages of Refugee Week (i.e. that refugees are sexy, sporty, spicy etc).

These include the stories of an aspiring model, a heavy weight boxer and an established poet. Each story is as captivating as the next and manages to dispel the negative stereotypes that refugees and asylum seekers have in the UK.

These case studies are available for journalists to use on demand and develop for their own interests.

Small Actions

The Refugee Week UK team are looking for ideas for ‘small actions’ that could help change the way British born people and refugees see ach other.

A small action could be anything from inviting a refugee friend to share a cup of tea with your grandpa to learning to say hello in a different language. Any action that, when performed by lots of people, can lead to big changes.

Over the few months we will be collecting as many serious, silly and simple actions as we can from all sorts of people from all walks of life.

Check out the Small Actions section of our site for inspiration and then add your own!

Tell us your idea today and you could see thousands of people bringing it to life!

Refugee Week's 10th Anniversary

This year is Refugee Weeks 10th Anniversary! To mark the occasion we will be publishing a report about the history of Refugee Week, from its conception in 1998 to the amazing scale and diversity of events today. The report will feature interviews with key players of Refugee Week past and present, including founders, supporters, event organisers and performers.

The report will be published here during Refugee Week.
