Jade says

It’s a traditional Ugandan dish, easy to cook and it is very good for those veggie people! The ingredient is also very cheap; just open you store take out the ground nuts and pound using pestle.


Ingredients

Peanut dish

Peanut and spinach thingPeanut flour (1 cup)

Peanut and spinach thing1 big onion

Peanut and spinach thing½ cabbage (sliced)

Peanut and spinach thing½ cup cooking oil

Peanut and spinach thing1 teaspoon salt

Peanut and spinach thing1 medium chilli chopped

Peanut and spinach thing2 cups of water

Peanut and spinach thing1 cup of rice or three sweet potatoes peeled

Cooking Method

Peanut dish

  1. Heat about ½ a cup of cooking oil to a medium pan
  2. Add one well chopped onion to the pan and fry until it is brown
  3. Add chopped tomatoes
  4. Finely chop the chilli and fry until it is a paste
  5. Mix a cupful of groundnut (ground peanut) with water until it is paste then add to the ingredients in the pan
  6. Add two cups of water
  7. Finely chop cabbage and add to pan
  8. Add a teaspoon of salt
  9. Leave to cook for 30 minutes
  10. Serve with either rice or sweet potatoes
  11. Sit down on the mat and eat with your fingers!

Spinach dish

  1. Wash spinach thoroughly
  2. Fry cooking oil in a pan with diced onions until brown
  3. Add chopped tomatoes
  4. Add ¼ teaspoon of salt
  5. Add 1 small chilli (well chopped; so that you can feel the burn on your tongue)
  6. Cook until it is a good paste
  7. Add the spinach and let it cook for at least 20 minutes
  8. Serve with rice, sweet potatoes or even cassava
  9. And do not forget to drink plenty of water!
